The goal is to generate information that can be used in advocacy to defend democratic rights. The issues that we will be focusing on include:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mandatory Data Retention \u2013 right to privacy.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 EU- Passenger Name Record \u2013 right to privacy \/ freedom of movement<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 New policing techniques \u2013 freedom of assembly.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Biometric Identity Documents \u2013 right to privacy<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>According to the European Court of Human Rights and other international human rights tribunals, the right of access to information is a fundamental human right for being an intrinsic part of freedom of expression and a prerequisite for participation in public debate.<\/p>\n<p>And so we have a right to access the information needed to defend civil liberties in Europe.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Access for Rights: Planned Information Request Actions 1 February 2011, Madrid\/London: During the project on Access for Rights, Access Info Europe and Statewatch will use Europe\u2019s access to information laws to get comparative data on civil liberties issues.
