{"id":22858,"date":"2016-05-09T12:39:04","date_gmt":"2016-05-09T10:39:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.access-info.org\/?p=22858"},"modified":"2018-11-13T10:04:11","modified_gmt":"2018-11-13T09:04:11","slug":"after-five-months-european-commission-tells-access-info-the-name-of-a-database","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.access-info.org\/es\/2016-05-09\/after-five-months-european-commission-tells-access-info-the-name-of-a-database\/","title":{"rendered":"After five months, European Commission tells Access Info the name of a database!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Madrid, 9 May 2016<\/em> &#8211; On Europe Day, Access Info\u2019s Executive Director Helen Darbishire was happy to open a DHL package from the European Commission with the response to a request submitted on 16 November 2015 for information about the database in which the travel and entertainment expenses of the European Commissioners are stored.<\/p>\n<p>We asked about the database because we\u2019ve been told it\u2019s not possible to provide numerical data on how much each Commissioner spends on travel and entertainment without also providing personal data, which would take many days to redact. In the modern information era this seems odd.<\/p>\n<p>The shiny yellow envelope contained a letter with the name of the database  &#8211; named MiPS \u2013 the Mission Processing System &#8211; as well as documentation on how to enter expenses claims.<\/p>\n<p>Even this information was only provided after various exchanges and clarifications about what we were asking for, and two formal appeals (\u201cconfirmatory applications\u201d) to the Secretariat General of the European Commission.<\/p>\n<p>What was not provided &#8211; even though we had asked for it &#8211; was a simple listing of the fields that the MiPS database contains.
