Helen Darbishire, Executive Director of Access Info Europe, participated in the online event: Connect Europe, organised by Democracy International, a Cologne-based NGO aiming to strengthen direct democracy in the nation state, in Europe and on the global level.

The conference focused on how to connect citizens and civil society representatives with the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, which turns 20 years old.

Under the panel  “Strengthening and raising awareness of citizens’ rights in Europe “, Helen Darbishire addressed the Right to good administration (Article 41 of the EU Charter), including principles of integrity, participation and transparency. MEP Daniel Freund, Bündnis 90/Die Grünen and Marie Jünemann from Mehr Demokratie talked about the Right to petition EP (Article 44) and the Right to access documents (Article 42), respectively.
