Helen Darbishire, Executive Director of Access Info Europe, participated in the presentation of the first fund to finance claims under the Italian FOIA, the first Italian fund – fully funded by crowdfunding – to support the legal actions of journalists, citizens and associations whose aim is to defend and expand the rights of access to information.

» The importance of litigation

In her presenation Helen Darbishire focused on the importance of litigation in the context of access to information. She discussed the reasons why litigation is relevant to advance the right to information, why it does not happen enough and the actions they can take to address this issue.

According to Darbishire, the Italian fund to finance claims is key to achieve the fully implementation of the FOIA law. She also suggested the attending journalists that they could support this fund either through a finantial contribution or by disseminating the word.
